Georges Topfer was a French spanking artist from the late 1910s to the mid-1930s. Topfer often used the pseudonyms Gaston Smit, G. Smit, GTS and James Barclay. Below are his illustrations from the 1922 novel Père Adoptif (Adoptive Father) by Maurice d’Apinac.

“Abel had the cruelty to leave her exposed for several minutes. Then, brandishing his supple and light cane, he had flanked the poor little girl’s bare butt with a dozen well-applied strokes which had streaked the pretty little pink butt with long red stripes and tore out moans from its owner.” – Excerpt from Père Adoptif
